Alex Shatsal is remembered by his peers as one of the best outfielders and hitters in Manitoba during the 1940s and early 1950s. He played with Brown Bombers, Margaret Rose Maroons and Sashmen before joining Northern Hotel in 1950. The team won the Manitoba championship the next two years. The following season he was a member of the Western Canadian champions, Ukrainian Legion Branch 141. The team also won Manitoba in 1952. Alex and his Northern Hotel/Legion 141 team-mates will be inducted into the HOF in the team category in May 2005.
