Founding president of the Winnipeg Adult Co-Ed Softball League, George's contribution to Softball in Manitoba expanded over a 23 year period. Under his guidance, the league grew from 6 teams in 1967 to over 46 teams at the height of the league's glory in 1980. In addition to acting as the league's chief organizer, George also managed to find time to coach a team in the league for 12 years. During this time, George also contributed to the promotion and development of softball in Manitoba through his VPW channel 11 program called TIME OUT, which was on the air from 1977-1997. Over the years, George strived to ensure that participating teams benefited from the league's mandate to encourage and promote fair play and good sportsmanship.
